These records, which were collected by Ralph Van Loon, all deal with the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW). The files contain groupings of photographs, correspondence, criticisms of the LBW, custodial committee records, and translations of the LBW. Other files include information on the dedication of the LBW, different editions and printings of the LBW, and publicity for the LBW. The records include correspondence, hand-written notes, press releases, notes regarding changes made to the LBW, minutes, financial reports, and news clippings. Correspondents include John W. Becker (LCA Secretary for Church Music and the Arts), other members of the LCA's Division for Parish Services, LCA pastors, and Eugene Brand (project director of the ILCW, who later worked for Lutheran World Ministries). The Press Coverage file contains photographs of TALC members receiving a check from Lutheran Brotherhood to help introduce the LBW.

The Rev. Ralph Van Loon was a staff member of the Lutheran Church in America's (LCA) Division for Parish Services (DPS). He was Secretary for Worship and Church Architecture in the DPS Department for Parish Support from 1975 through 1987. He also served as the LCA's Coordinator for Worship.
